Joel Lueb and his wife fostered 19 kids over eight years in Long Beach, CA. The city is part of the Los Angeles metro area. They love the deep relationships they built with their children. But they also saw how foster youth, who didn’t have a stable home while growing up, struggled as they became adults without a trusted network of care and support.

DSF Werks is a nonprofit organization that helps teach young adults critical professional skills in the automotive industry and media arts. The nonprofit partners foster youth with mentors who teach them how to restore classic cars and document it so they learn a variety of skills from mechanical work to media creation. 

Homelessness is undeniably a social crisis in our society. It’s a hot topic that strikes a chord for those on both sides of the political aisle. While some are demanding improved mental health services, others are insistent that encampments are torn down. We would like to introduce you to DSF Werks, a non-profit that views this crisis through a unique filter.
